Elisabeth: yeah, Latin seems to be in the cultural DNA of this family. My late Dad, me and my three brothers all were Boston Latin grads and my mom did some at Emmanuel. I wonder if any of the current younuns are doing amo, amas, amat?

John: even though I was too young to recall our grandparents, I feel like I got part of Grammy and Papa Hines second-hand through my dad's heritage of loving books, news, poetry and especially politics. He too could recite Kipling, not to mention Lincoln, and Casey at the Bat.

I very much wish my family could join you in Duxbury this weekend. For those I haven't seen since way back, my husband is Ray Gosselin, my stepdaughter Meghan(age 26) and my son Carl (age 14) live on Martha's Vineyard and own a Miniature Golf Course w/Rockwall & Grill. So,it would be difficult(no, impossible!) for us to attend. I hope the weather is Beautiful for you all...how will any of you be able to catch up on each others lives in one day?? We all love stories-both the telling and the listening. I think it will take multiple reunions. Any one interested in having one on the beautiful Island of Martha's Vineyard? I know a great place for a golf tournament and burgers!
Love to all, Mary

Some of my earliest memories are of Great Uncle George and Great Aunt Helen. I am not certain where they lived in West Roxbury, but I just loved visiting them! Great Aunt Helen always had cookies for my brother Bobby & me. Great Uncle George had the greatest Donald Duck imitation. I was very fond of them, and was quite disappointed when they moved to Washington D.C..My final memory of Great Uncle George was that my parents left to attend his funeral in Washington D.C. just after President Kennedy's funeral. My parents took the train to Washington, and when they returned to Framingham, they told my brother & I about the visit to President Kennedy's grave in Arlington National Cemetary.

Dad took me many times to visit Lilly & May. Both were at their respective convents, and were also favorites of mine. Dad shamed me into taking 4 years of Latin while at Marian HighSchool. As a matter of fact, I still have "OUR LATIN HERITAGE" by Sister Therese Hines S.N.D. on my book shelf!!
Have a wonderful reunion.
During my visit some of you may have seen our gang of 16 in section 41 of the Fenway Park bleachers, on Jerry Remy night. We were holding the huge sign and were on NESN several times; not sure about SportsCenter. I also took a trip to Yankee Stadium for the first & last time with my son Paul Gleason celebrating his 13th birthday. Which segways me into my favorite Boston locations as Fenway Park and Kenmore Square. Many memorable times with my buddies during the 1980s, but attending the 1986 World Series might be a highlight, and going to my first game with my mother Carol in 1974. I still have the souvenir bank on my dresser to this day.

Lacking viable options--and any pocket money--this seemed like a worthwhile pursuit on a cold, rain swept city afternoon. Despite tiptoeing up a series of back staircases in our Keds, a commando-style raid on a private elevator bank, and spying on one or two indifferent security guards, our kids’ version of “Mission Impossible” turned out to be, well, impossible!
